New Jersey Citizens Oppose Veal Production Practices
Asks New Jersey residents the treatment of animals raised for food, and specific practices and standards related to veal production in New Jersey.
86% of New Jersey voters say that farmed animals should be treated humanely, 7% say that it does not matter because they are going to be killed anyway, 4% do not agree with either view and 3% are unsure.
Women (93%) are more likely than men (78%) to agree that farmed animals should be raised humanely.
85% say that it is unacceptable to restrain calves so tightly that they cannot turn or move, while 12% say that it is acceptable and 3% are unsure.
80% feel that the denial of iron and fiber to calves is unacceptable, while 14% find this acceptable and 6% are unsure.
