National Diet And Nutrition Survey (Main Report)
Covers a comprehensive UK survey of adults aged 19 to 64 years, “with the aim of gathering information about the dietary habits and nutritional status of the British population.” The survey covers foods consumed derived from dietary records and other measures. This volume presents the initial findings on food intake from a survey of the diet and nutrition of adults aged 19 to 64 years living in private households in Great Britain.
5% of respondents reported being vegetarian or vegan.
More women (7%) than men (2%) are vegetarian or vegan, but the greatest difference was in the 25 to 34 year old group, where 11% of women were vegetarian and 1% of men were vegetarian.
Reasons for becoming vegetarian included morals/ethics (51%), health (29%), taste (25%) and other reasons.
