Based on surveys of 77 “backsliders,” people who were once vegetarian but returned to eating meat, the researchers identified five reasons for returning to meat-eating: declining health (35%), hassles and social stigmas (25%), irresistible urges (15%), and shifts in moral thinking (3%).
