Survey Shows Top Food Safety Concerns Of UK Consumers
Research conducted by the United Kingdom’s Foods Standard Agency finds that the main concerns of consumers include food hygiene when dining out, food poisoning, and the use of food additives.
The results of this consumer tracker survey show that 36% of respondents are concerned about food hygiene when dining out, while 29% are worried about food poisoning, and 27% are concerned about the use of food additives. In addition, consumers also expressed concern about food prices (54%), the amount of salt in food (45%), and food waste (42%). Interestingly, the majority of respondents (80%) said they were aware of hygiene standards in places when they eat out, but the primary method they use to judge these standards are the general appearance of the place (65%), the appearance of the staff (51%), and the restaurant’s reputation (42%).
