Survey Shows Few Sows In Open Housing
Some food companies have declared that they will only support producers who do not use gestation stalls. However, this survey found that the vast majority of sows in the U.S. are kept in individual housing during gestation. Therefore, it was concluded that it would be difficult for most producers to meet the food companies requirements to be gestation-stall free.
