A Time/CNN poll has found that a majority of people would not eat cloned animals, whilst only 33% would eat meat that came from cloned animals.
A survey by the CNN and Time asks whether or not respondents would eat meat from animals that are clones, after describing the process of cloning.
Survey question asks, “Here are a few questions about a different topic–a process called ‘cloning’, in which genetic material is taken from an animal and implanted into an unfertilized egg. The egg is allowed to develop into an exact duplicate or ‘clone’, of the original animal. Currently medical researchers have been able to clone sheep and other animals, but have not been able to use the same techniques on humans. Do you think you would or would not eat meat from animals that are clones?”
- Would eat (33%)
- Would not eat (56%)
- Do not eat meat (2%)
- Not sure (9%)
