A online poll has found that a majority of people think research on animals should be banned and more humane methods should be used

This short online poll found 53% of respondents felt that research on animals should be banned.

Survey question asks:  “Do you agree that research on animals should be banned?”:

  • Yes, there are far more humane methods of advancing knowledge (53%, 7129 votes)
  • No, researchers take steps to ensure that tested animals feel no pain (39%, 5262 votes)
  • Uncertain – too much disagreement over the necessity and safety of tests (8%, 1044 votes)
