1994 Poll On Vegetarian Population

This study examined consumption of animal products in the U.S. and explored differences in demographics.
Frequency of consumption of various meat and dairy products, including differences by age, gender, ethnic group, and geographical location.
This 1994 poll states that 0.3-1% of the population are behavior based vegetarians (do not eat meat, fish or poultry), which is significantly lower than the 3-7% who consider themselves vegetarian or the 20-30% that buy vegetarian products.
About 6% of the population does not eat red meat, 3% never eat poultry, 3% never consumer dairy products, 4% never eat eggs, and 4% never eat seafood.
5% of males never eat meat, while 7% of females do not eat red meat.
