Future Fast Food Trends On Animal Welfare
Short interview with Bob Goldin, Executive Director of Technomic about fast food trends related to animal welfare conditions.
Burger King has implemented an initiative to purchase 2% of its eggs and 10% of its pork from sources that don’t cage animals. Likewise, Wolfgang Puck also announced that his restaurants would only serve crate-free veal and pork.
According to Golding, consumers are increasingly interested in certain social issues, including animal welfare, which is driving this trend.
Technomic’s study which asked consumers to prioritize 14 social issues showed animal welfare to be ranked number 3, ahead of environmental issues.
Goldin predicts that “animal-friendly” will present a range of new options for for businesses.
