According to this ABC News poll, 79% of the 506 American women polled have heard about protest made by animal right groups against killing animals to make fur coats, while 21% have not heard or read anything about it.
64% of these women approve of most of the protests being made by animal rights groups against using animals to make fur coats, while 27% disapprove and 9% are unsure.
The majority (83%) believe that animal rights groups do not have the right to confront people on the street over wearing fur, while 15% believe they do have the right; 2% were unsure.
However, in discussing animal rights groups spray painting furs worn by people on the street, 95% disapprove, while 2% approve and 2% remain unsure.
Asked of the 25% of women who own real furs, 96% were not very worried at all that they will be bothered on the street by animal right groups when wearing their fur coat, 3% were somewhat worried, 0% were very worried and 1% were unsure.
Also asked of the 25% of women who own real furs, 98% said they have not been bothered by an animal rights group for wearing fur while 2% stated that they have been bothered.
