75% Want Mandatory Cattle Stunning: Survey
This survey of Australian adults investigated attitudes toward a legal requirement that cattle be stunned and unconscious prior to slaughter, even if they have been sold overseas.
The survey asked, “Do you support or oppose the introduction of a law that would require all Australian cattle whether being processed in Australia or overseas, to be rendered unconscious by stunning prior to slaughter?” 75% of respondents supported the law: 47% strongly supported, 28% supported, 5% opposed. Support was highest among women than men (77% vs. 72%) and outside of the capital cities (77%) The press release available here.
