Nearly half of Great Britain would consider themselves a dog person with 31% considering themselves a cat person and only 3% undecided.
This online survey of adults in Great Britain finds that nearly half of the population (45%) would describe themselves as a “dog person” over a “cat person.”
According to the results of this YouGov survey, the percentage of British adults who considers himself or herself to be a specific companion animal person includes:
- Dog person (45%)
- Cat person (31%)
- Neither (21%)
- Don’t know (3%)
These preferences also vary by region. More than half (54%) of those living in Midlands and Wales would prefer a dog, similar to those in the North of England (52%) and Scotland (47%).
Current estimates of the companion animal population in Great Britain households include 10.3 million cats and 10.5 million dogs.
