Poll Reveals Iowa Voters Oppose Dove Hunting By Nearly Three To One Margin
Evaluates Iowa voters’ opinions regarding possible legislation that would allow hunting of mourning doves, and projected support of potential veto by the governor and legislators who vote to allow such hunting.
62% of respondents favor ‘allowing the hunting of mourning doves in Iowa’ and 23% oppose I, with majorities among men, women, democrats, republicans, and independents favoring it.
61% of respondents think ‘Iowa voters’ ‘should make the final decision whether or not to legalize dove hunting in Iowa,’ 21% think ‘elected officials’ should, and 9% think ‘an un-elected commission’ should.
57% of respondents ‘think that the governor should veto the bill’ and 27% think he shouldn’t.
9% of respondents said they would be ‘more likely’ to ‘vote for a state legislator who voted to legalize dove hunting in the state of Iowa’ and 31% said they would be ‘less likely’ to.
