Job Posting: Digital Resource Manager
Faunalytics is now accepting applications for our Digital Resource Manager! The tools, systems, and infrastructure behind our website and Research Library are what make our work possible at scale. The Digital Resource Manager sits at the intersection of content operations, web infrastructure, AI, and technical tooling, ensuring that our website, research systems, and the platforms our team runs on can keep pace with a growing volume and complexity of high-impact content. Reporting to the Resource Director, the DRM owns key technical infrastructure and automation initiatives and collaborates closely with the Research Library and Communications teams, with support extending to Operations and Fundraising.
Responsibilities
Website & Content Infrastructure (60%)
Maintain and strengthen the technical backbone of Faunalytics’ website and content systems:
- Prepare and publish original research outputs
- Maintain and improve our WordPress infrastructure, with strong potential for CMS transition in the future
- Ensure page templates, taxonomies, and UX are optimized for growing content volume
- Build and maintain automation for study summaries, metadata, and CMS templates as content volume grows
- Execute quarterly updates of all static webpages
- Troubleshoot and resolve website issues as they arise (e.g., broken pages, display errors, plugin conflicts)
- Keep an eye on the health of our core technology platforms, including performance, security, and compliance, and raise issues before they become problems
- Manage Google Analytics and Dashboard updates in coordination with Resource Director
- Support SEO/GEO optimization efforts to strengthen discoverability of Faunalytics’ content
- Contribute to a long-term digital roadmap for Faunalytics’ website and content infrastructure
Automation, Integration, & AI (40%)
Build and evaluate tools and workflows that improve experiences for advocates and increase the capacity of teams across Faunalytics:
- Serve as a primary member of the AI committee, helping to set AI strategy and priorities.
- Help the team get more out of the tools we already have by reviewing platform features as they change, scouting alternatives, and gathering colleagues’ input on what is and isn’t working
- Critically evaluate new tools (AI, automation, search enhancements) and bring recommendations to the Resource Director
- Contribute to external-facing resources, such as the Lens, that support Faunalytics’ broader audience — not just internal tooling
- Build and maintain API connections between the platforms we run on, including Google Workspace, Asana, Airtable, WordPress, and our donor database
- Oversee integrations and workflow optimizations across the content and website ecosystem, extending support to Ops and Fundraising in addition to programs teams
- Manage technical contractors in coordination with the Resource Director
- Stay up to date on AI tools relevant to content operations, research publishing, and workflow automation, and help keep the broader team informed of relevant developments
- Assess risk and safety considerations for AI tool use, particularly around sensitive research data
- Create internal automations for tasks such as summaries, tagging, and metadata generation
- Potentially build bespoke internal tools (e.g., researcher assist tools, library search improvements) for one-off projects or ongoing use
Qualifications
Required
- Alignment with Faunalytics’ mission and a strong commitment to animal protection
- At least 3 years of professional experience in web administration, digital content operations, or a related technical role
- Strong WordPress administration experience and working knowledge of HTML/CSS
- Demonstrated experience with workflow automation tools (e.g., n8n, Zapier, Make) and no-code database tools (e.g., Airtable)
- Ability to write and maintain small production applications and automation scripts in Python or a comparable language
- Experience connecting software platforms to one another using developer APIs or custom scripts, and keeping those connections working over time
- Working knowledge of AI tools and their practical application to content, research, or workflow automation
- Ability to work independently and manage technical projects with general direction rather than close oversight
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to explain how a system works, where its limits are, and what that means for the organization to colleagues without a technical background
- Comfort working as part of a small, distributed remote team
Preferred
- Strong knowledge of a variety of CMS and web development platforms
- Experience evaluating or managing external contractors and technical vendors
- Familiarity with the tools our team works in daily, such as Claude, Google Workspace, Asana, and Slack
