Bridging The Gap Between Research And Advocacy
This is a working paper, presented at the Animal Rights Conference 2011. It discusses the need for researchers to make their work useful for and available to animal advocates, and for animal advocates to utilize research in their campaigns. Suggestions are given to academics/researchers on how to do this, and advocates are provided with suggestions as to when to use research and where to obtain free research resources.
This working paper discusses the gap between research and advocacy as being due to both researchers producing inaccessible work and advocates not trying to utilize research. After discussing why it is that there is a gap between research and advocacy, the author suggests practical ways for both researchers and advocates to bridge this gap. There is an appendix included with detailed information regarding research resources available for advocates.
