USDA Agricultural Projections To The Year 2017
This report provides 10-year projections for the U.S. agricultural sector through 2017, from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Projections cover agricultural commodities, trade, and aggregate indicators for the sector, such as farm income and food prices.
As rising production costs and export growth drive retail prices higher, U.S. consumers are likely to purchase less meat over the next 10 years, according to the USDA’s Agricultural Long-Term Projections to 2017. The report projects that per-capita beef consumption will decline by about 5 pounds and pork by about 2 pounds. Poultry consumption will increase by about 2.5 pounds during the same period.
