Poll: Louisiana Majority Favors Ban On Cockfighting

The overwhelming majority of citizens from Louisiana support a ban on cockfighting, with more women supporting the ban than men.

Louisiana and New Mexico are the only two states where cockfighting is legal and past attempts to ban the practice in Louisiana have failed.
This survey determined that 82% of respondents would be in favor of a ban on cockfighting, 71% were strongly against it. 90% of women and 71% of men would approve a ban.
Overall, 82% of respondents would support the ban, while 12% would like cockfighting to remain legal.
