One Million Vow To Reduce Carbon By Being Vegetarian
More than one million Taiwanese people, including some political figures, have pledged to reduce carbon emissions by becoming vegetarian. This would reduce at least 1.5 million tons of carbon emissions in Taiwan during the course of one year.
One million people in Taiwan have pledged to cut carbon emissions by becoming vegetarian. The country’s total current population is about 23 million and the conversion of 1 million non-vegetarians to vegetarians would be reduce at least 1.5 million tons of carbon over the course of one year.
Roughly 20% of the world’s carbon emissions are created by the livestock industry, which is higher than the 15-18% produced by world transportation. If one individual ate vegetables for one year, carbon emissions would be reduced by an estimated 1.5 tons (minimum).
