NPD Study Finds More Men Cooking Than Ever Before
Research conducted among American consumers shows that women prepare the majority of dinners (78%) while men prepare a smaller proportion (18%) of dinners, though this is an increase from 14% in 2003. This increase in the number of male cooks has also led to an increase in year-round grilling, with 38% of households grilling at least once every two weeks, compared with 31% ten years ago.
This study of eating habits found that women prepare in home dinners 78% of the time, compared with men who prepare dinners 18% of the time, an increase from 14% in 2003. Younger men who live in a multi-person household cook the most frequently; two-thirds of men under 25 years will prepare at least one of the next 10 meals.
An increase in the number of male cooks has also led to an increase in grilling; 38% of households grill at least once during a two-week period, compared with 31% 10 years ago.
