Majority “Now In Favour Of Compromise On Hunting”
Survey results published by UK-based research group NOP show that 59% of the British public would either oppose a ban on civil liberty grounds or agree that hunting should continue in a regulated form to “strike a balance between civil liberties and animal welfare.” But a separate survey found that a strong majority (80%) considers hunting with dogs to be cruel.
These NOP survey results found that the majority (59%) of British voters oppose a hunting ban on civil liberty grounds or they believe that hunting should continue in some regulated form.
More specifically, 18% of voters oppose a ban, 41% favor a compromise, and 36% want a ban on hunting. However, another Mori poll sponsored by anti-hunting campaigners and released at the same time found that 80% of the public considers hunting with dogs to be cruel, and 61% consider the pursuit “immoral.”
