HSUS Named Most Credible Farm-Animal Care Information Source
An annual survey presented at the Food System Summit 2010 regarding consumer trust in the food system named the Humane Society of the United States as the most credible source of information about farmed animal care.
According to the U.S. adult public, 15.9% of respondents think the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is the most credible source of information about farm animal care, while 12.3% think farm animal veterinarians are the most credible. This is followed by 12.0% for U.S. Department of Agriculture representatives and 11.5% for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Last on the list were farmers who operate large farms (5.5%).
