Animal Welfare – What Do People Think?
This survey assessed how Ohio residents feel about farmed animal welfare.
62% of respondents live in a city or suburb and 4% live on a farm.
92% agreed that it is important for farm animals to be cared for.
85% feel that quality of life is important even though the animals may be used for meat production.
81% believe the well being of farm animals is as important as the well being of pets.
33% were interested in learning more about farm animals.
47% agreed that increased regulation of farm animal treatment is needed.
59% said they would be willing to pay more for humanely raised animal food products:
- 43% are willing to pay 10% more
- 12% said they would pay 25% more
75% feel that farm animals should be protected from pain
