Soy Beverages On The Rise In The U.S.
Sales of soy beverages and other dairy alternative products in the United States grew by 19.3% from 2006 to 2007, to reach $1.7 billion.
According to research conducted in the U.S. by the Beverage Marketing Corporation, soy beverages including soymilk and other dairy alternatives have achieved “enviable” levels of growth.
Sales for the industry segment measured $545 million in 2001 and $676 million in 2002. 2003 brought growth of 30%, and sales first topped $1 billion in 2004. Most recently, the segment grew 19% from 2006 to 2007.
Grocery stores are the primary channel for purchase, although mass merchandisers and convenience stores now also sell soymilk and other dairy alternatives.
