Study: Crossbow Hunters Aren’t Newbies
This 2009 survey of new crossbow hunters explores the previous hunting experience of respondents and finds that contrary to popular belief, many new crossbow hunters have previous bow-hunting experience.
According to this survey of 1,637 hunters, more than 72% said they had previously hunted with compound bows while nearly 18% said they had previously hunted with recurves. In addition, 75% also hunted with rifles, while nearly as many (74%) said they hunted with shotguns. More than 64% said they hunted with muzzleloaders while 29% have hunted with handguns. Only a small 1% of respondents said they had never hunted before.
