Only 13% of people would recommend that a hypothetical woman purchase a fur coat, while a majority would encourage buying fake fur or synthetic materials.

Asks respondents to suppose that a woman who can afford a fur coat wants one, then asks them whether, given their own attitude toward animal rights, what they would advise her to do.

Survey question asks: “Suppose a woman who can afford a fur coat wants one. Given your attitude toward animal rights, what would you advise her to do?”

  • Buy the fur coat (13%)
  • Buy a high quality fake fur coat so as not to be responsible for the death of the animals killed to make the coat (41%)
  • Buy a cloth coat because false fur may encourage some people to buy a real fur coat (39%)
  • Not sure (8%)
