Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days Adopter Survey (2013)
Following a 2013 nationwide free adoption event sponsored by Maddie’s Fund, participating animal rescue organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area surveyed adopters. They were asked what search resources they used and how they selected them, how they rated the adoption experience, and how things were going with their new companion. Most adopters visited only one location, were happy with the adoption experience, felt attached to their new companion, and said that the animal had adjusted to their new home.[Abstract excerpted from original source.}
“Maddie’s® Pet Adoption Days is the nation’s biggest free pet adoption event. Its purpose is to increase awareness of shelter animals, shed light on the tireless efforts of shelters and rescue organizations and find new families for homeless dogs and cats.
In November 2013, Maddie’s Fund conducted an online survey that asked adopters who participated in Maddie’s® Pet Adoption Days about the pet they adopted, the organization they adopted from and the event in general. Only adopters from Bay Area groups who provided email addresses were asked to participate. For those who may have adopted several pets from more than one organization during the event, we asked them to give us feedback on one pet from just one of the participating organizations. We received 357 completed surveys in total, representing 71 different organizations.”
