Pet Parents New Year’s Resolution Survey And A Companion Animal Food Manufacturing Survey
According to this survey by a manufacturer of food and other products for companion animals, 70% of companion animal guardians plan to donate to a shelter or rescue group in 2012, 12% plan to adopt a new companion animal and 12% plan to foster for a local animal welfare group. Guardians also resolved to do more for their own companion animals, including more walking, more grooming, and smaller food portions for overweight companion animals.
The Pets Parents’ New Year’s Resolution Survey collected feedback from 1,045 people who currently live with companion animals. More than one-third (36%) of the surveyed companion animal owners owned both cats and dogs, 38% owned only dogs and 26% owned only cats. Following is a summary of the survey findings:
- 94% plan to help companion animals in need in 2012
- 70% plan to donate to a rescue or a shelter
- 66% plan to continue whatever they already did
- 46% plan to play on Halo-sponsored websites to earn kibble for shelters
- 12% plan to adopt a new companion animal
- 12% percent plan to foster an animal
- 89% plan to help their companion animals get more exercise
- 87% plan to groom their companion animals more regularly
- 69% plan to feed their companion animals higher-quality food
- 48% plan on teaching their companion animals new tricks
- 46% plan to help their companion animals lose weight
