Over 50% of British respondents do not know what haggis, a traditional Scottish dish, is.
According to a survey by Just-Eat, one in five Britons believe that haggis, a traditional Scottish dish made from the lung, liver and heart of a sheep, is a roaming Highlands animal.
Approximately 18% of Britons believe that haggis is a “hilltop dwelling animal,” while another 15% believe that it is a Scottish musical instrument. An additional 4% said it is a character from the Harry Potter series of novels/films. About one in seven (14%) of the 781 Scottish people surveyed said they were unfamiliar with the term “haggis.”
