Americans, Britons At Odds On Animal Testing
A poll of adults in 3 countries finds that more in the U.S. and Canada feel that animal testing is acceptable, while the majority in Great Britain do not.
The majority of Americans and Canadians felt that animal testing is morally acceptable, while the majority in Great Britain felt otherwise.
In the U.S., 63% felt that animal testing was morally acceptable while 33% felt that it was morally wrong.
In Canada, 59% felt that it was morally acceptable while 37% felt that medical testing was morally wrong.
In Great Britain, 37% felt that animal testing is morally acceptable while 54% felt it was morally wrong.
This data brings into question the fate of animal testing in Great Britain, particularly with the E.U. ban on animal testing for cosmetics. In the U.S., 35% of adults support a ban on the testing of animals for medical research, while only slightly more, 38%, would support a ban on the testing of animals for any products.
