Animal Liberation Forum Recap
This past weekend I attended the Animal Liberation Forum, a conference in Long Beach, California. It was a great event with a wide array of speakers and organizations, including Nikki Benoit with Vegan Outreach, Karen Davis with United Poultry Concerns, Greg Kelly with Band of Mercy, and Dina Kourda with Orange County People for Animals.

One of the best aspects of the conference was its focus on advocacy. A wide array of speakers gave talks that helped to educate and inform advocates about animal issues. Other speakers presented talks on strategy and tactics within the animal advocacy movement. There were also speakers who dealt with issues such as theory and the intersections of ethnicity and veganism.
I participated at the conference on Faunalytic’s behalf by presenting selected topics from our Primer Series—Animal Experimentation and Companion Animals. Our research “primers” are short summaries of all available public opinion data by topic.
Since the conference was geared toward animal advocates, it was a perfect opportunity to provide the audience with a “crash course” in relevant research. Following each presentation, individuals working with local animal advocacy campaigns spoke about their campaigns and provided practical information about how local advocates could become involved.
It was a great conference. I hope to see you all there next year!
