Trip Advisor Sniffs Out Top Ten Companion Animal-Friendly Hotels
A survey conducted by TripAdvisor reveals that hotel hospitality toward companion animals is important to companion animal-owning travelers; 61% of companion animal owners traveled with their companion animals over the last year, while 33% say they “often” bring their companion animals on trips and 5% “always” do.
Survey results show that travelers consider their companion animals to be an important part of the family; 26% say their companion animals are an inseparable part of the family that goes everywhere with them and 14% believe that traveling with companion animals is more cost-effective than using a kennel.
An estimated 15% of survey respondents brought companion animals with them on a plane in the last year, although only 1% consider air travel as the most companion animal-friendly form of mass transportation. More than half (57%) of companion animal owners welcome companion animals in the cabin of an airplane, while 59% of non-companion animal owners do not like animals in the main cabin.
Respondents ranked allergies (39%) as the biggest annoyance caused by travelers who bring companion animals on mass transportation, while 26% are annoyed by noisy companion animals. Other concerns are companion animal owners who do not pick up after their companion animals (56%), those who bring their companion animals into inappropriate settings (35%), and those who expect others to treat their companion animals like people (28%).
