The nonprofit CATalyst Council has determined the top ten cat-friendly cities in the United States with Tampa taking the top spot.

According to the nonprofit CATalyst Council, based on a set of specific criteria, Tampa (FL), Phoenix (AZ), and San Francisco (CA) ranked as the top three cat-friendly cities in the United States.

Based on criteria including cat population, the percentage of microchipped cats, the number of American Association of Feline Practitioner members, the number of Cat Fancy magazine subscribers, and the existence of cat-friendly local ordinances, the top ten cat-friendly cities in the United States are:

  1. Tampa, FL
  2. Phoenix, AZ
  3. San Francisco, CA
  4. Portland, OR
  5. Denver, CO
  6. Boston, MA
  7. Seattle, WA
  8. San Diego, CA
  9. Atlanta, GA
  10. Minneapolis, MN
