Deidre Koolen-Bourke, Phd
Deidre Koolen-Bourke holds degrees in law, biology and anthropology and works as a senior policy researcher at an environmental NGO, where she leads their conservation law reform and science for policy projects. She was co-chair of the Animal Rights Legal Advocacy Network for over ten years and was recently appointed as a Fellow of GRN’s Animals and Biodiversity programme. Deidre’s doctoral thesis examined the animal rights movement’s engagement with law (and law’s response) and she has published in the areas of animal, wildlife and conservation law, and indigenous rights.
