Dodgy Traders Selling Sick Companion Animals
This Hong Kong news article discusses the problem of sick companion animals being purchased from companion animal stores and recaps public attitudes concerning companion animals based on surveys conducted by the group “Happy Animals.”
According to a survey of 576 people (survey method not revealed), 82% of respondents believe the government should register the paternity and maternity of bred animals; 81% think basic training should be given to companion animal shop workers and 83% want the government to grade companion animal stores.
In a previous survey by this same group, about one-half of the 200 respondents obtained their companion animal from companion animal shops and 30% of those companion animals developed health problems within the first week after purchase.
