Capital May Take Up Arms Against A Kangaroo Glut
The capital city of Australia, Canberra, is overpopulated with kangaroos. However, a government survey finds that more than 80% of residents believe the wild kangaroos should stay, though another survey found that 17% of area drivers have collided with a kangaroo at least once.
The Australian capital of Canberra suffers from overpopulation of kangaroos and authorities have unsuccessfully tried various methods of population control including vasectomies, oral contraceptives, and relocation. Authorities are now proposing a cull, though most people are opposed to this idea and protests are likely to ensue. Public opinion on the issue will be taken through May 11, 2009.
