Busy Owners Cause Bad Behavior
According to this survey regarding companion animal owners in the United Kingdom, 94% of veterinary professionals believe that owners’ lifestyles are the major cause of behavioral issues in companion animals.
More than three-fourths of veterinary professionals believe that owners should spend more time with their companion animals to help avoid behavioral issues. However, nearly all respondents (89%) also say that owners are too busy to deal with such problems if they develop.
Behavioral issues can also result from changes in a companion animal’s environment, and 65% of owners avoid putting their companion animals in these stressful situations, although 19% reportedly “choose to ignore their stressed dogs.”
