Animal Welfare Act Violations At Ivy League Universities
This report compiles data from facility inspection reports and recorded violations in animal experimentation facilities at Ivy League universities in the U.S. between 2008 and 2011. The universities are ranked based on the number of violations and severity of the violations. The report details the violations and found that all of the schools had multiple severe violations.
This study collected all reports of Animal Welfare Act violations recorded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the National Institutes of Health. A scale was developed based on the number and severity of the reports. All schools had severe violations, with the University of Pennsylvania ranking the worst and Princeton University and Yale University tied for second worst.
