Swedish born and raised, Mia currently lives outside of Portland, Oregon with her partner and two young children. She just finished her Master's in Biology and is converting a school bus into a home on wheels. Mia is passionate about animal welfare and wildlife conservation. Her previous work includes wildlife rehabilitation in the Pacific Northwest, iguana conservation in Mexico, and farm animal outreach in Tanzania.
Dr. Rakefet Cohen Ben-Arye is a social and organizational psychology researcher whose work focuses on decision-making, applying nudges to promote a plant-based diet, and consumer behavior in the context of animal advocacy. She holds a PhD from Bar-Ilan University and has published research on the identifiable victim effect: examining how giving farmed animals a name and a face can elicit advocacy among omnivores, as well as on meat and animal product consumption patterns. Her more recent work explores vegan defaults as social nudges, presented as a keynote and workshops at conferences in China. Dr. Cohen Ben-Arye focuses on behavioral research, fundraising, and AI consultation and is committed to translating behavioral science into evidence-based strategies for animal advocacy.
Gabriel is an MBA graduate from Presidio Graduate School, with a focus on Sustainable Management. Inspired by the Effective Altruism movement, Gabriel has found animal welfare to be a cause with incredible opportunity to create positive impacts on global environmental, social, and health issues.
