Meet The Faunalysts

Our team shares your heartfelt desire to help animals and brings an unwavering commitment to finding the best ways for advocates to save lives and reduce suffering.

Join Our Board

If you care deeply about improving the lives of animals by empowering their advocates with the data to help drive humane change, we could be the board for you! Faunalytics is now accepting applications for people to serve on our Board of Directors in a voluntary capacity.

We’re delighted to announce that Faunalytics is accepting applications for people to serve on our Board of Directors in a voluntary capacity. We have elected to open our recruitment to people outside of our current networks to help us grow the size and diversity of our leadership team, leading to added innovation and new ideas for Faunalytics.

If you care deeply about improving the lives of animals by empowering their advocates with the data to help drive humane change, we could be the board for you!

About Faunalytics

Faunalytics’ mission is to empower animal advocates with access to research, analysis, strategies, and messages that maximize their effectiveness to reduce animal suffering. We conduct essential research, maintain an online research library, and directly support advocates and organizations in their work to save lives. The range of data we offer helps our movement understand how people think about and respond to advocacy, providing advocates with the best strategies to inspire change for animals.

We have been named a “Recommended Charity” by Animal Charity Evaluators since 2015. Check out our 2023 Year In Review, 2024 Plans & Priorities, or our Impact Center to learn more about our important work.

Are You a Fit for Our Board?

Our Board of Directors are all volunteers and have made a commitment to represent the work that we do while providing governance and oversight to the Faunalytics organization. We are looking for people with experience, skills, and resources who can contribute to our mission in unique ways.

While we are open to all applicants — including those from international locations — some areas of expertise are currently highly aligned with our needs:

  • Finance
  • Fundraising
  • Human Resources
  • Legal
  • Operations

While we encourage applications from people who are typically underrepresented on Boards and in nonprofit leadership, we do require written and spoken English competency. Our board members are located in various timezones and most meetings take place at 4 pm Eastern, but there can be some flexibility. Some of the additional obligations to joining the Faunalytics Board include a commitment to:

  • Our mission
  • A two-year term (renewals possible)
  • Contributing approximately 4 hours of your time per month (two hours for meetings, two for additional committee work or staff support)
  • Attending a minimum of six virtual Board meetings annually (typically twice per quarter, two hours long)
  • Sharing your expertise and leveraging your networks and resources when feasible
  • A $500 annual “Give/Get” (raise, directly donate or contribute in your professional time) We evaluate Board contributions in a broad way to ensure Board service is accessible to people from all economic means
  • Overseeing the organization and providing fiduciary oversight
  • Serving on a Board committee and at an appropriate point in the future serving in an office role

The Application/Selection Process

This application allows you to tell us a bit more about yourself and why you’d be a good fit for the Faunalytics Board. It also allows you to ask us any additional questions you may have.

The Board Recruitment Committee and People & Operations Director will do an initial review of applications. Top candidates will be contacted for a phone interview/discussion with 1-3 Board member(s) Finalists will have a video call with the Executive Director and another Board member(s).

Please note that our application review process happens twice a year. Thus you may not hear back from us for a few months.

Thank you for your interest in joining the Faunalytics Board! Feel free to pass this on to others in your network who have the experience to strengthen our team and who you think might be interested in this opportunity.

We need your feedback!

We’re conducting our annual Community Survey to learn how our resources are being used by animal advocates. It helps us understand our impact, improve our programs, and it only takes a few minutes.
